First Annual Southern California Senior Expo to Feature Education and Entertainment at Ontario Convention Center

ONTARIO, CA (October 14, 2003) - The Ontario Convention Center will host the first annual Southern California Senior Expo on October 17 and 18. Catering to the boomer and senior crowds, the event has sold more than 200 booths to companies that focus on housing and mobility, wellness and exercise, finances, and a 10-booth travel pavilion complete with airlines and cruises.

"The Southern California Senior Expo has already sold out on booths for the event," stated Amita Patel, OCVB's director of sales and marketing. "There will be free health screenings, seminars, and a variety of entertainment throughout the weekend."

Entertainment for the two-day show includes Mary Lou Metzger of the Lawrence Welk Show, the Legendary Ink Spots, the Wonderellas, the Michael Thomas Orchestra playing big band and swing music, and a 50's all-girl doo-wop act.

Main sponsors of the event include AARP, Harrah's Rincon Casino and Resort, American Express Travel, Smith Barney Investments and Advanced Care Medical Equipment. In addition, the Senior Expo boast companies like the Gene Autry Museum, Fabulous Palm Springs Follies, Huntington Library, New York Life, Elderhostel, Las Vegas' Frontier Hotel and Trump 29 Casino.

The Southern California Senior Expo will be held at the Ontario Convention Center on October 17 and 18 from 9:30 AM to 5 PM. Tickets for the show are $7 general admission, $1 off with senior center or newspaper coupons, and $2 off with an AARP membership card.
