California School Library Association holds its Annual Fiesta! at Ontario Convention Center

ONTARIO, CA (November 7, 2003) -- Celebrating books, literacy and learning, the California School Library Association will hold its annual conference at the Ontario Convention Center November 12-15 next week.

"We are expecting more than 750 people to attend this year's professional growth conference," said Dr. Susan Maass, incoming president of the California School Library Association. "It's a great opportunity to network among fellow library media teachers and technicians."

Several special workshops are offered prior to the main exhibition. This is an opportunity for attendees to celebrate the most recent research and opportunities in the library profession by attending two- or three-hour workshop presentations that reflect the latest in reading, research, national programs, technology and working with students. Additional Wednesday morning workshops are $60 and afternoon workshops are $40.

An author and illustrator brunch will complete the festivities Saturday, featuring a presentation by author Richard Peck. Peck was the first young people's author to receive a national Humanities Medal in 2002. He is also a Newbery Silver Medalist and 2002 Newbery Gold Medal winner for his book A Year Down Yonder.

The conference begins Wednesday and runs through Saturday at the Ontario Convention Center. Exhibit hours are: Wednesday 6:00 – 8:30 p.m.; Thursday 10:00 – 5:30 p.m. and Friday 10:00 – 3:30 p.m. For more information, please visit. www.schoolibrary.org.
