Academy of Model Aeronautics is Ready for Takeoff at the Ontario Convention Center

ONTARIO, CA (January 7, 2004) - The Academy of Model Aeronautics, the world's largest sport aviation organization, will hold its annual convention at the Ontario Convention Center on Friday, January 9 through Sunday, January 11. The convention will exhibit model aircrafts as well as boats, cars, trains, rockets, radio control systems and related model accessories.

"The Academy of Model Aeronautics is expecting more than 1,200 people to attend this year's AMA Annual Convention," stated Amita Patel, OCVB's director of sales and marketing. "There will be something for every model enthusiast at this event."

Workshops will be offered throughout the AMA Convention at no extra charge, and will discuss such topics as:

    * Flying Assistance Presentation
    * Care and Use of Rechargeable Batteries
    * Overview of AMA Insurance Program
    * "Show and Tell" presentations and more

The AMA Convention will also host a "Swap Shop" for those interested in buying, selling or trading model replicas. The cost of the "Swap Shop" is free with admission.

A model contest will complete the festivities on Sunday, featuring 15 categories of model aircrafts, helicopters, cars and boats. The "Static Model Competition" is open to all ages and is free to enter. Contestants must also be the builder of the model. Entries must be taken to the loading dock entrance of the Ontario Convention Center on Thursday, 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. or Friday, 10 a.m. – 7 p.m. If entries are brought during show hours on Friday, contestants must bring entries through the main show entrance and pay admission.

The conference begins Friday and runs through Sunday at the Ontario Convention Center. Exhibit hours are: Friday 12 p.m. – 6 p.m.; Saturday 10 a.m. – 6 p.m.; and Sunday 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. General admission is $10 per day, or $8 for current AMA members.
