Largest Quilting Show in California is on the Road Again
"The Road to California has been utilizing the Ontario Convention Center since the facility first opened six years ago," stated Amita Patel, OCVB's director of sales and marketing. "The event has grown significantly, and this year, Road to California expects more than 15,000 people in attendance."
Two-hundred quilts have been selected by a jury process to compete in the prestigious "Road to California Showcase Contest." Showcase sections include Traditional Quilts, Innovative Quilts, and Wearable Art. Over $14,000 in prize monies will be given to the top quilt designers of 2004.
Thirteen special exhibits will also be on display, including the "American Spirit Collection" and "20th Anniversary 'Cover Quilts.'" The American Spirit Collection is a compilation of 13 quilts that represent the triumph of the American spirit after September 11, 2001. "20th Anniversary 'Cover Quilts'" feature quilts from book and magazine covers over the last 20 years.
More than 80 classes and lectures are scheduled throughout the show. Fees for individual classes and lectures range from $10 to $155. For more information on registering, please visit www.road2ca.com/classINFO.html.
