A Day to Shine at the Women & Business Expo

ONTARIO, Calif., April 29, 2005 – Dedicated to enhancing personal growth and business opportunities for women, the Women & Business Expo brings professionals together to learn, share ideas and improve the quality of living in the Inland Empire. This year's Women & Business Expo will be held on Friday, May 6, at the Ontario Convention Center.

According to the National Association of Women Business Owners – Inland Empire (NAWBO-IE) Web site, the Inland Empire is home to 93,347 privately-held businesses where women own 50% or more of the company. While they account for 7.5 percent of women-owned businesses in California, Inland Empire women-owned businesses generate nearly $32 billion in sales.

"The issues that women face today in the business world are much different than 10 years ago," stated Amita Patel, director of sales and marketing for OCVB. "The Women & Business Expo addresses those concerns in a relevant manner for today's workplace."

More than 20 workshops are scheduled, focusing on a variety of topics that include: understanding the minds of men, nonverbal communication and body language, investments, retirement decisions, healthcare and more.

During the luncheon, the Women & Business Expo will also welcome the following keynote speakers:

Gloria Allred
High-profile attorney Gloria Allred was recently selected by USA Today as one of the "25 Most Important Radio Talk Show Hosts in America." She has won countless honors for her pioneering legal work on behalf of women and minority rights and has been nominated for an Emmy three times for her television commentaries on KABC-TV. Allred is the attorney for Amber Frey and will discuss her involvement with Scott Peterson.

Amber Frey
Amber Frey, author of the recently released book entitled, "Witness for the Prosecution of Scott Peterson," will be joined by attorney Gloria Allred to discuss the untold story of the Scott Peterson case. In August 2004, Frey testified at Scott Peterson's trial. The intimate details of their six-week relationship were revealed by Frey and the contents of the taped conversations made public.

Deana Martin
An accomplished actress and entertainer, Deana Martin recently completed her autobiography entitled, "Memories Are Made of This: Dean Martin Through His Daughter's Eyes." She has continued in her father's footsteps by supporting various children's charitable causes, as well as becoming the driving force behind the Dean Martin Festival.

Anne Hjelle
In February 2004, Anne Hjelle was attacked by a mountain lion in the Santa Ana Mountains and was rescued by her riding companion from the animal's jaws. Hjelle has been on "Larry King Live," "Good Morning America," "Paula Zahn Now," "Inside Edition," and many other nationally-known TV programs.

Lola Gillebaard

Lola Gillebaard, award-winning author and comedian, uses the power of humor to achieve, maintain and increase productivity in the workplace. She helps businesses recognize the connection between humor, health, happiness and employee effectiveness. Gillebaard is a cancer survivor and has undergone 17 major surgeries. She has so much metal in her body that "when she walks through the airport metal detectors, it sounds like somebody winning a jackpot at Las Vegas."
