ONTARIO, Calif., January 10, 2006 – Ontario Convention Center will transform into a model mass-transit mall when the Academy of Model Aeronautics Convention returns Friday, January 13 through Sunday, January 15. The convention will exhibit model aircraft as well as boats, cars, rockets, radio control systems and related model accessories.

"The Academy of Model Aeronautics is expecting 9,000 hobbyists to attend this year's AMA Annual Convention," stated Bob Brown, OCVB's executive director and general manager. "Model enthusiasts can take advantage of the safety seminars, product demonstrations and show and tell presentations that will be held throughout the three-day event."

On Saturday, January 14 and Sunday, January 15, the "Swap Shop" will be held once again for those interested in buying, selling or trading model replications.

Over 20 categories of model aircraft, helicopters, boats and flying model rockets will be on display at the "Static Model Competition," which is open to all ages and free to enter. Contestants must be the builder of the model. Entries should be taken to the loading dock entrance of the Ontario Convention Center on Thursday, January 12 from 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. or Friday, January 13 from 10 a.m. – noon. Entries brought during show hours on Friday must be delivered through the main show entrance, where contestants will be required to pay admission.

The Academy of Model Aeronautics Convention begins Friday and runs through Sunday at the Ontario Convention Center. Exhibit hours are: Friday, 12 p.m. – 6 p.m.; Saturday, 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. and Sunday, 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. General admission is $10 per day or $8 for current AMA members.
